ANDREW THOMSON (BROUGHTON)

(1814-1901)

Thomson1

Dr.Andrew Thomson is well-known for his books on the lives of pre-eminent ministers, and for his book on his travels in the Holy Land. He has also written a preface for Pollok's "Tales of the Covenanters" but is easy to get confused with the "other" Andrew Thomson, also of Edinburgh, who was prominent in the "Disruption" of 1843. This Thomson was known as of "Broughton Place" and the other one was of "Free St. George's" Many of his books are still available in the Used Book market. For further information about Scottish ministers of distinction, see my "Hall of Fame" link below.
