I have called this fromkings - meaning in English "From Kings", ie taken from King's How, or at least from the ascent to it. A fairly gentle climb that one can do with a child on your back, and another holding the hand. Supplies of the local "Kendal Mint Cake" (a glucose-full bar of peppermint) come in very useful for the stop "at the next big boulder" which comes along just as the weary kids can go no further (they say). Mint Cake finished, they gambol about like kittens while Dad and Mum have a cup of coffee from a flask ( and rest their limbs). Amazing how the weariness is forgotten when the sun suddenly emerges!
