Welcome to this Website on a much-neglected Puritan,
John Howe, who was as illustrious in his
day as John Owen, and was also chaplain to Oliver Cromwell, the Lord Protector
of England who kept us out of Rome and knocked a few continental heads together
thus recovering a little of Britain's prestige, abroad. Read Howe's works - or
some of them - and maybe the funeral sermon for William Bates that demonstrates
not only Howe, but well describes Bates.
Howe with Cromwell.
"You have asked for many
things for others, when are you going to ask for yourself or your
family?"
