Coniston is one of my favourite places, the lake and the town are lovely. however thhis is of "The Old Man of Coniston", which is a reasonable climb, and shows interesting evidence of former slate-mining activity. Lead, silver and gold have been mined here in the Lake District, which actually has more than one rock type in evidence. Slate is just one - there is also Granite found.
