The Wastwater Screes are famous, and here you can see a little bit of them on the left. The remains of a plane lie up there as well, and believe it or not,there is a footpath along the edge of the lake, below the screes! Beyond Wastwater lies open country, and the Ravenglass River with its famous little railway up the Eskdale valley. Steam, mostly, and 15" gauge and some of the grandest scenery you cn see from a train in this country.
