Tommy was a lamb that had been orphaned on a neighbour's farm. When we had a sheep that lambed, and then the lamb died, Neil went ands got this lamb from the neighbour for her to suckle. That's the theory. In spite of all the old shepherd's tricks, the ewe would not recognise the new lamb, she would not let him suckle, though he was very persistent. So Tommy got special attention from the bucket to supplement his grazing (and amused us enormously by his very imaginative attempts to suckle - like when his "Mother" was stuck solid between two others, and couldn't get away!) The bucket looks a strange colour - but was used to lime-wash some of the buildings. tommy doesn't seem to object.
